Using Smart Templates

Available with the Following Subscriptions: Premium, Enterprise
Available for the Following Roles: All roles

💡Note: Smart Templates are currently only available for Zones and Lines.

Smart Templates are a tool that allows you to place multiple objects at once, following a template or rules (the rules are created using Visual Programming). Using a template is easy and does not require any Visual Programming.

If you would like information on how to create your own templates, refer to Creating Smart Templates.

Click on the links below to download our favorite Smart Templates to use on your project:

  • Road
    • Draw a line to create a road with sidewalks. Choose how man lanes you want.
  • Road with Bike Lane
    • Similar to Road, but with a bike lane on one side. Edit the sketch, select a segment, and click flip to change which side the bike lane in on.
  • Pool
    • Draw an area to create a custom pool shape

How to Use Smart Templates

  1. Download one of the templates above, or Create your own Smart Template.
  2. Enable the Smart Templates feature flag - instructions can be found here: 🧪 Experimental Features
  3. From the Project Setup toolbox, select the Smart Templates tool.
  4. Upload your template file.
  5. Choose a location in the 3D scene to roughly place the template
  6. Adjust your template as needed (fine movement, set values as needed).
  7. On the next step, you can decide if you want to remove any specific objects from the template.
  8. Confirm to save the objects from the template to the scene.

💡Note: Currently when you place a Smart Templates, you will not be able to edit the template again. It will save each object individually, and lose its relationship to the template.
