Enhancing the Site Plan Background Image (2D)
The background image of your Site Plan Scenario can be improved by using a 2D satellite image. These can be exported from any satellite database. We suggest using Google Earth Pro as it provides a clear image reliably and is free.
Step 1: Exporting the Background Image from Google Earth Pro
First download and install Google Earth Pro: download Google Earth Pro Once you have it installed, follow these steps:
- Input the address of your project or position the map so the boundaries of the image cover the whole are you want to export
- Click on the "X" to remove the pin from the view
- Deactivate all additional layers to clear the satellite image
- Once you position the image correctly, make sure to Reset Tilt and Compass to produce a flat image with no angle. This has to be done every time you move the view.
- Click on the Save Image button
- Set the resolution to Maximum
- Click on Save Image to download a new satellite image
