The Scale by Distance tool allows you to precisely scale a drawing that has been uploaded as a Drawing Overlay in your Scenario. In this article, we cover how to select reference points, define distance, and scale your drawing accurately.
This article contains the following sections:
Open Scale by Distance
After uploading the drawing, open it in Edit mode, then select Scale by Distance from the Side Sheet Toolbar.
- Before starting, right-click on the drawing and select Temp. Hide Everything Else to remove other elements and make alignment easier. Consider hiding the Scenario Tree (1) to see the full picture.
- Hover over Manual Scale in the Side Sheet Toolbar (2) and select Scale by Distance (3) to activate the scaling interface.
Identify and Place Alignment Points
To scale the drawing, you need to select two reference points that represent a known distance.
- Place the first reference point (D1) on the drawing (4)
-
Place the second reference point (D2) on the drawing (5)
💡 Tip: Choose points that are easy to identify and represent a precise, known measurement for better accuracy.
- Enter the distance between the (D1) and (D2) points in the Side Sheet (6)
- If a point is placed incorrectly, click the Reposition button (7) and place it again on the drawing (2); the drawing updates automatically.
- Use the Opacity slider (8) in the Side Sheet to compare the drawing with the map and check key areas such as edges and corners.
- Click Confirm (9) to apply the scale and save the updated drawing.
💡 Note: After the drawing has been scaled, we recommend users follow up with Align and Position with the lock scale option selected. For more info see section 1.1.1 Drawing Overlay - Align & Position
