This guide covers how to use the Scale by Distance tool to scale your drawing by selecting two points and specifying the distance between them.

The Scale by Distance feature allows you to precisely scale your drawing by selecting two anchor points. To use this feature, identify two alignment points on your drawing and enter the distance between them to scale it accurately.

  1. Select anchor points on your drawing: Identify and select two distinct points on your drawing that you want to use for scaling.

  2. Distance between 2 points: Update the distance between the two points to your desired value, and the drawing will automatically scale accordingly.

How Scale by Distance Works


  • Upload a drawing:
    • Click Project Setup → Drawing overlay → Upload File and your drawing will load in the scene with the side sheet open.
    • If you already have a drawing uploaded, right click on the drawing and click Edit and the side sheet will appear.
  • Accessing Scale by Distance:
    • Hover over the Manual Scale option from the toolbar and you will see it expand.
    • Click on the Scale by Distance option from the toolbar.

    • đź’ˇTIP: Temporary hide all surrounding buildings from the map to make it easy to see the image on your map.

  • Identify and place alignment points:
    • To begin, you need to pick two locations on the drawing that you can identify.
    • Once placed, you can drag the points around to adjust their location.
    • Update the distance between the points to scale the drawing accordingly.

    • To confirm that your drawing is properly placed, you can adjust the opacity slider while looking at the map view.

Repositioning Points:

  • To reposition any point, locate the Reposition icon on the respective point card.

  • Click the icon to activate the marker, and it will allow you to edit your placement of that marker.
