The Display Settings allow you to customize the appearance of the Site Plan. Environment, View, and Camera settings are available for both Google 3D Map and Mapbox projects, while additional settings vary depending on the map type used by the project.
In this article, we cover:
Common Display Settings
The following display settings are common to both Google 3D Map and Mapbox projects. These settings allow you to customize the appearance of the Site Plan by adjusting the environment, controlling the visibility of map elements, and changing the camera view. The images in this section depict Scenario Display Settings for a project using a Google map type, but are available for the Mapbox map projects as well. Â
Environment Settings
The Environment settings include the following options:
- Reflections in windows (1): Adjust the reflectivity of transparent BIM Elements.
- Environmental Lighting (2):Â Customize the warmth of ambient lighting for the Scenario.
- Background/Backdrop (3): Customize the background color. You can select between system default or custom solid colors, and backdrops, including the sky gradient with or without moving clouds.Â
View Settings
Hide and show the following items:
- Origin Axis (1):Â Toggle on to display an axis system at the origin point of the scenario.
- Terrain (2):Â Toggle of to hide the map tile including and drawing overlays projected on the terrain.
- Measurements (3): Toggle of to hide measurements including sketch and measure tool dimensions. Â
- Topographic Lines (4):Â Toggle on to view topographic/contour lines.
Camera Settings
Select a view type - perspective, orthographic, or 2D/top down:
-
Perspective:Â 3-Dimensional realistic view with adjustable field of view.
- Higher view angles are useful for exploring inside a BIM model, or 2D export.
- Orthographic:Â 3-Dimensional with parallel perspective.
-
Top Down: (AKA Plan View) 2-Dimensional bird's eye view of the Scenario.
- This can also be accessed from the 2D button, in the bottom right corner of the Site Plan.
Display Settings for Google 3D Map Projects
Google 3D Tile maps extend far into the horizon, with reduced quality outside of the project site. There are settings to deactivate, darken or delineate between the extended map and project site. These settings are available separately for site plan edit mode and presentation mode.
- In Settings (1) deactivating Extended Map Display (2) will hide the area surrounding your project site.
- In Settings (1)Â use the slider (3) to Darken the Extended Map to help focus attention on the project site. A lower value = lighter, while a higher value = a darker, more subdued extended map.
- In Settings (1) users will find an option to Display the Map Boundary Line (4) that separates the work site from the extended map area. Displaying the boundary helps focus attention on the project site.
Display Settings for Mapbox Map Projects
The display settings for Mapbox projects include an option to view the 3D Map Tile as a map or a satellite image as well as all of those listed in common display settings section above.Â
- Map View:Â Show the standard map style view.
- Satellite View:Â Show the satellite image of the map tile.
