In this tutorial you learn how to move around and interact with the controls in the cmBuilder interface.

The most complete and up-to-date list of all navigation controls and keyboard shortcuts is available to you at anytime from within cmBuilder. Simply click the "?" button in the upper right corner of the screen, and select Key Shortcuts.Ā

Summary

  • Access Key Shortcuts to view controls from the Help Icon (1)
  • Mouse Controls:
    • Rotate - Hold Left click + Move
    • Pan - HoldĀ Right click + Move
    • Zoom - Mouse wheel up (zoom in) and down (zoom out)
    • Refocus - Mouse wheel click
  • Click Edit (6) to enter Edit mode for access to makes changes, and click Save & View (6) to return to view mode
    • Edit mode will be active upon entering the scenario unless another user is editing
    • View mode will be active for shared links
  • Access view options from the shortcuts on the bottom right corner of your screen and Settings (11) tab
  • Access the site plan contents from the Model Browser (12)

A Scenario is a configuration of your project. you can create multiple scenarios for any Project.

A Scenario allows users to test their construction process and logistics plan with different variables, such as one crane versus two cranes, to see what set of variables yield the best results.

The Site Plan consists of the interface within each Scenario, including the 3D viewer, tools, etc. that you can use to plan out your site logistics and build 4D simulations.

Here are the basics of what you will find in your Scenario interface:

0. Top Bar: Share your Site Plan or export information, change view settings or units (user preferences), access history log, use Multi-player mode, and other handy tools and shortcuts

1. Drawing OverlayĀ - Overlay a drawing, Manage Schedule, create Zones, 3D Lines, and Custom Terrain

2. TerrainĀ - Create an Earthwork plan, and extract Earthwork Takeoffs

3. Buildings - Import BIM models, Scans, or Mesh files, use Massing to create building representations

4. Resources - Access the cmBuilder Resource Library to utilize thousands of parametric and non-parametric models of construction resources

5. Annotate

6. Presentation and SlidesĀ - Create an interactive shareable presentation of your Site Plan
