How to lasso select objects

Available with the Following Subscriptions: All Subscriptions

Available for the Following Roles: All Roles

The Lasso Selection feature allows users to multi-select objects in the site plan (select multiple objects at the same time to edit).

Currently, the object types you can select using the lasso tool include surrounding massing, BIM models, and resources. Depending on which object is first inside the lasso box, only that specific object type will be selected while the others will be filtered out.

💡Tip: To ensure only the desired object type is selected with the lasso tool, click on that object first and then draw a lasso box in the viewer.

Here are the steps to lasso select an object example a BIM model:

  1. First, click any element on the BIM model. This ensures that only BIM model objects will be selected.
  2. Hold the Ctrl key.
  3. Click and hold the left mouse button.
  4. Drag a box around the building elements you want to select.1.png
  5. Repeat the process while still holding the Ctrl key to make multiple selections.

💡To improve your lasso selection process, follow these additional tips:

  1. Either use the selection filtering described in step 1 above, or temporary hide other object types for an unobstructed lasso selection.3.png
  2. Use the Orthographic view setting to get a 2D perspective of the building, making it easier to select levels.
  3. You can also press Ctrl + Shift to perform a lasso deselection and make adjustments to your selections.

  3. You can also hide selected building elements from the model tree browser.

💡Note: The selection shown in the tree is only displayed for parts, not parent folders. Therefore, if building model elements are housed in parent folders, it may be necessary to use the Expand All option.
