Share Links are link that provide view-only access to a Scenario for project stakeholders that don't necessarily need to be given access to your cmBuilder space but would benefit from viewing the site plan. Share links will provide access to the latest version of the Scenario including any changes or updates to the site plan after the creation of the link. Upon creation of the Share link, users can set an expiry date as well as limit the range of Milestones recipients of the link will be able to view.

How To Create A Share Link

A Share link must be created from the Scenario page. There is no limit to the number of Share links created per scenario. To create a Share link, first click the blue Export/Share button (1) in the upper right hand corner of a Scenario. From the side panel that appears click Share live link button (2), a new side panel will appear titled Share live link

💡Note: Share links can be managed (edited/deleted etc.) from the Shared Links Dashboard.

💡Note: Before sharing Presentation Mode links, make sure to set up🔗Presentation slides or at least viewpoints. It is also recommended to review and/or modify the 🔗Presentation Settings.

  1. Link Behavior: Choose from the following link behavior options:
  • Start in presentation mode , also allows viewers to exit to site plan navigation mode.
  • Start in site plan navigation mode, also allows viewers to launch presentation mode.
  • Lock to presentation mode, also allows for limiting the range of milestones.
  1. Date & timeline setting: By default, the shared link uses the scenario's date and timeline settings.
  • You can edit these settings by clicking Edit (2) if you want the link to use different date or timeline settings from the scenario.
  1. Link details (3):
  • Google attribution: If the link uses photorealistic Google tiles, you can choose whether to include Google attribution in the shared view.
  • Expiry: Set a link expiry date check the expiry date box and set a date from the calendar dropdown. Setting the expiry date to a past date will disable the link.
  1. Visual setting (4): Initially this inherits your scenario settings. If the listed values for the visual properties differ from those currently applied in your active session you can overwrite them to match your currently applied visual settings by clicking the Use Current Settings button. Click Confirm to save any changes. Next time the link is used, the Scenario will load with the newly applied visual settings.
     
  2. Link (5): The link is generated automatically when you open this side sheet.

    You can:

    • Click Copy Link (6) to copy the link to your clipboard.
    • Click Download QR code (7) to share the link in another format.
    • Click Done (8) to return to the previous screen.
    • Click Delete icon (9) if you no longer need this link.

Customize Date & Timeline Settings

When you share a link, it uses the date and timeline settings from your current scenario by default.

To customize the date settings for the link, click Edit in the Date and timeline settings section.

The controls are similar to the presentation settings. You can:

  • Choose whether to show milestone labels, the timeline, or both.
  • Select how dates should be displayed.
  • Apply the same date and timeline settings to both site plan navigation mode and presentation mode.

💡Remember: Date & timeline setting will remain consistent even if the scenario settings are updated.

If you have already shared a link and want to change its date and timeline settings, create and share a new link.

Upon following the link viewers will have access to the Scenario in view mode.

  • Anyone can open the link using their browser, a cmBuilder user account is not required. 
  • Share links do not allow viewers to edit the Scenario; only view.
  • The viewer can navigate through milestones and access the review tab.
  • Edits made to the Scenario will be visible to viewers with live-links upon refreshing the page.
