0.5 Administration

Available with the Following Subscriptions: All Subscriptions
Available for the Following Roles: Company Owner, Company Admin

This page serves as an overview and introduction to Admin topics for new cmBuilder company accounts. Only company level administrators need read on, but it is recommended to first review the general 🔗Set up your account section as it is relevant to all users.

To get up and running with cmBuilder, let’s start by setting up your account and configuring some basic options:

Set up Single Sign-On (SSO)

cmBuilder provides Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality for Premium and Enterprise accounts to access the app through a single authentication source, allowing IT admins to better manage team access and keep information more secure.

If you have Single Sign-On (SSO) set up, you can require users to log in to cmBuilder using their SSO credentials. For instructions on implementing SSO, see the Single Sign-On (SSO) Setup Guide

cmBuilder supports SSO integration with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) and Okta. For detailed setup instructions, please refer to the respective guides for Microsoft Entra ID and Okta.

Invite Teammates and Assign Roles

Every cmBuilder subscription includes unlimited seats for internal and external users at no extra charge.  Each user is assigned a role upon being invited. Roles determine the permissions for each user at both the company and project levels.

Invitations are sent from within company settings (1) in the User Management section (2). Click the Invite  Users button (4), provide an email address (5), click Add User and set the user role (6) for each user before clicking Invite (7) which sends the invitation email(s).

  • For more information on inviting users, visit the đź”—Invite Users user guide section.
  • To organize users into teams, see 🔗Teams for detailed instructions.
  • For more information on the user roles visit the đź”—Roles & Permissions user guide section.
  • To learn more about users, assigning and managing roles, see đź”—User Management

Customize Default Settings

cmBuilder allows you to customize multiple aspects of the user experience at both the company and user levels.

We recommend configuring Company Settings up front. You can configure user preferences any time after initial setup.

Go to the General Settings page to customize your time-date formats, domains, and SSO preferences.

To set additional preferences for default units, user roles, company branding, and teams, see the topics listed in the Company Settings guide .

Set up Integrations

Procore

The Procore integration allows users to access project data directly within cmBuilder, including projects and user permissions. For more details and setup instructions, refer to the Procore Integration guide

Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)

The ACC integration allows users to upload and sync 3D models directly into cmBuilder. For more details and setup instructions, refer to the ACC Integration guide

Configure Email Whitelisting

Be sure to add “cmbuilder.io” to your email whitelist with your email provider to ensure invitations aren’t blocked. Email whitelisting involves adding specific email addresses or domains to a trusted list, ensuring that emails from these senders are delivered directly to the recipient's inbox without being marked as spam or diverted to a separate folder. This practice is essential for making sure that important notifications and updates from cmBuilder reach users quickly and consistently.

Optimize Performance

cmBuilder is a web-based platform that relies on both your internet connection and your computer's system specifications—especially graphics capabilities—to deliver optimal performance. To ensure optimal performance while using cmBuilder, we suggest that Administrators inform all users to adjust their browser's GPU settings by following the instructions in Browser GPU Settings
