3.2.1 Update Schedule

Learn how to apply updates to your Scenario's Project Schedule by importing the latest export from Microsoft Project or Primavera P6. This article also explains not only how to revise the Project Schedule with a later revision but also how to update an existing import-based schedule, including editing Milestones or unlinking the schedule file without deleting associated Milestones.

Update Schedule 

A Project Schedule based on an import file can be updated without needing to reimport anything. The allowed updates include, adding a new Milestone that is linked to a task, unlinking a Milestone from a task, or Unlinking all Milestones from imported schedule's tasks. None of these changes will delete the Milestone(s), just the link between the Milestone and the imported file:

• From the toolbar, click Project Schedule (1), the Side Sheet will appear. 
• To create new linked Milestones, click the 3-dots next to any Milestone, select Add from linked schedule (2). Select any dates for which a Milestone is required (not pictured).
• To unlink a Milestone from a task, click the 3-dots next to that Milestone, select Unlink task from Milestone (3).
• To Unlink all task and Milestone pairings, select Unlink (4). This cannot be undone.
• Click Done (5) when finished making changes.

Revise Schedule 

Updating the Project Schedule with a later revision will lead to Milestone date changes for any Milestones that are linked to a task from the original imported schedule. The link is based on a unique pairing ID that cannot be changed accidentally or intentionally and is reliable for this purpose. To update the Scenario's Project Schedule:

1. From the toolbar, click Project Schedule (1), then choose Update Schedule (2) from the Side Sheet Toolbar. 
2. Upload the latest export from MS Project or Primavera P6.

3. Select any dates (3) for which a new Milestone is needed, click next (4).

4. Review the new and existing Milestones. From the dropdown (5) newly selected dates can be assigned existing Milestones not already linked to a task. From the 3-dots (6), existing task-linked Milestones can at this stage be un-linked, removed or left unchanged at this stage. 
5. Click Apply (7) to implement updates.
