Use the Custom Section tool to create a section cut through all Scenario objects including BIM Elements, Resources, and the Terrain. The section cut allows you to view the model along a selected plane.
Create a Custom Section
Only one section can be created at a time. To create a custom section:
- Click Measure (1) from the Toolbar, then select Custom Section (2).
- Click a surface to create a section on the selected plane, and the view will adjust accordingly.
- Alternatively, select X Section, Y Section, or Z Section to create a section along the corresponding axis.
- Drag the arrow handle (not pictured) along the direction of the axis to adjust the section cut.
Tips & Tricks:
- Double click the Transparent Plane to adjust the Section
- To delete a section plane, right-click the Plane and select Remove (1).
- Alternatively, from the Measure tool, click Clear All (2) to remove the section plane and all other measurements in the model.
- Click Hide Slice Area (3) from the command bar to display or hide the cut surface.
Comments
Is it possible to save a section as part of a slide? For example, I have to add resources to an large interior space that is stepped (theater) to show sequence. It would be beneficial to have a section be saved to a slide so as I go back and forth between milestones, I do not have to re-apply a section at a different elevation for each view.
