Potential Issue with Arrows in Topographic Maps
Note: If you are looking to learn how to create arrows, search for "arrow" in our Resources Library, accessible through Resources & Equipment and you will find a number of options. This page covers an alternate method suitable for for arrows used in topographic maps.
The Problem
If you have used our Arrow resource on a topographic map, you may have noticed the head of the arrow sticking into the ground, making it hard to communicate directions, and not looking great.
The Work-around: Use Labels
A popular work-around is to use a label with a transparent background, and pasting this arrow symbol (â or â) in the textbox several times with spaces in-between to create an arrow path (and project on terrain).
